The bend sinister beveled bendwise is suggestive of a rising stock line chart as well as being "fractured", but still rising, which represents overcoming setbacks. The eagle displayed is the traditional symbol of St. John the Evangelist, Mr. Tomac’s namesake. The chequey base refers to Mr. Tomac’s Croatian ancestry, the Croatian arms being a red and white checkerboard.
