This certifies that the heraldic arms of Chas Charles-Dunne are registered as an original design and described by the blazon below
Assumed: India, Spring - 2002 The armiger was born in 1952 in the Governor’s residence in Bombay, India. His family have been expatriates in India since 1804. The family descends from Peter Whannell (armiger – Lyon Register Vol.1 2496), who’s grandson Major General Peter Whannell became the Auditor General of the Madras Army of the Honourable East India Company.
After India obtained her independence, all foreign nationals were encouraged to leave and the armiger’s family immigrated to Canada, where his formative years were spent.
At age 18, the armiger joined the Royal Air Force and he was the first (and to this date the only) British serviceman to have initially attested in Germany. He has served in both Northern Ireland and on the Falkland Island during the South Atlantic Conflict.
The arms have no particular rationale. The brief was that they could be easily blazoned and emblazoned.
