Biographical information

Jonatas DeSouza Dias Da Silva, son of Emerson Dias DaSilva and Mirian Caldas de Souza Dias, registered this heraldry to bring to memory the history of the Dias DaSilva family, originally from Portugal. The family migrated to Holland to escape the arms of the Inquisition, and then to northeastern Brazil in the early 17th century.

Design rationale

On the shield there are different symbols from the Silva and the Seixas coats of arms, which originated the Dias DaSilva family from Northeastern Brazil. The Hebrew word "Chai" is paying homage to the continuation of the Jewish identity of the family, despite the centuries of religious persecution which the family suffered in Portugal and Brazil.
