Design rationale

The trimount symbols in the medieval style are indicative of the ancient family history in Italy. The red sea lion represents Michael's and his son's naval and Coast Guard war time sea service.

The oak wreath represents their numerous rescue and life saving experiences as well as the patriotism shown.

The anchor is symbolic of the steadfast hope and religious foundations of the family.
