Design rationale

The raven signifies that I am one who has derived little in the way of material goods from my parents and ancestors. The gyronny of eight, which was a common Viking shield design, reflects my Scandinavian ancestry, and red and white are two of the most common colors used in Viking/Scandinavian heraldry.

The chief with the three crosses in it reflects my Roman Catholic Faith, which is the "chief" and most important thing in my life. The motto -- Virtue is true strength -- shows my belief that true strength is found in virtue and spiritual health rather than in bodily or mental strength.

The crest -- a dexter cubit arm holding a cross -- reflects my Catholicism.

The colors of the mantling -- white and gold -- are the colors of the Papal flag, and serve, along with the chief and crest, to reflect my Catholic Faith.
