Biographical Information
Born in Ireland, William was descended from the ancient border clan of Irwin (Irvine). He immigrated to the United States in 1714 with his elder brother Robert. He lived in Dutchess County New York until he moved to Orange County. According to the Irwin Family History he was a friend to George Washington.
