Design rationale
The eagle represents the individual, a free and soaring spirit, beneath a cross which represents the submission of that individual to God and higher power. The wings of the eagle spread up to encompass the lower half of the cross symbolizing the individual's honor of and responsibility to bearing that cross. Finally, the eagle and the cross are common symbols shared by my various ancestors in the Old World and the New.
