The Swedish surname Svanström means "river of the swans." The arms show three swans beside a river.

Ancestors who bore these arms

Mother: Shirley Jeanne Swanstrom (1936- ) American Fork, Utah Gfather: Harry William Swanstrom (1903-1957) Farson, Wyoming 1st GGfather: Adolph Ferdinand Augustus Swanstrom (1862-1904) Chetek, Wisconsin

Historical note

It has not been possible to date the arms. The design has an English rather than Swedish form, which suggests the arms were assumed after the family came to the US in 1891. It is not clear that Adolph Swanstrom, the immigrant, used the arms, but his three sons did. The arms appear in the personal papers of Adolph's eldest son Hugo Swanstrom, who might have designed them. Of Adolph's three sons, Hugo, Martin and Harry Swanstrom, only Harry left issue.
